Cumberland Council OKs One-Side Parking Ban in 4-3 Vote (upriseri.com) — Cumberland's Town Council has narrowly approved an ordinance limiting parking to one side of Thompson Hill Drive, Thomas Drive and most of Westbrook Way in the neighborhood beside Phantom Farms. The change aims to keep streets clear for emergency vehicles and pedestrians during busy fall festival weekends, while still allowing residents and guests some on-street parking and leaving room to revisit the rules after the season. 
2. Students face discipline after hazing involving Cumberland High School boys soccer team (turnto10.com) — Cumberland families should know multiple Cumberland High School boys soccer players have been disciplined after an off-campus hazing incident, and the team's season remains in limbo with games and practices on hold. District leaders say consequences followed school handbooks and promise added training on bullying and hazing to reinforce student safety expectations.
3. Cumberland OKs Phantom Farms Fall Fest Liquor License (upriseri.com) — Cumberland's licensing board has cleared Phantom Farms to serve beer and cider at its seven-weekend Fall Fest, but the exact number of licensed dates still hinges on a legal interpretation of state limits. The town solicitor must decide whether state law counts each calendar day or each weekend as a single license, which could force the farm to drop up to two dates from its planned September 12–October 25 schedule.
4. Richard Jenkins (ign.com) — Oscar-nominated actor Richard Jenkins, known for roles in Six Feet Under and The Visitor, now calls Cumberland home. A longtime stage and screen performer, he built his career after moving from Illinois to Rhode Island and continues to be one of the town's most distinguished residents.
5. It was more than football on Friday night. Here's the scores (newportri.com) — Cumberland sports fans can celebrate the football team's 13–6 win over West Warwick, even as the field hockey squad fell 5–1 to North Kingstown.
