Warwick Man Sentenced To Prison For Selling Fentanyl-Laced Pills: Feds

The Warwick man was sentenced to three years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Warwick man was sentenced to three years in federal prison for selling fentanyl-laced pills, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Preston Quintanilha, 23, will follow his three years in prison with three years' parole, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a media release.

The fentnayl-laced pills Quintanilha sold were disguised as the prescription painkiller Percocet, according to the release.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents bought pills from Quintanilha twice in August 2023, the release said, then "executed multiple court-authorized search warrants" the following month and seized 999 fentanyl-laced pills, a bag of suspected crack cocaine and $5,830 in cash from his residence.

Additionally, 1,003 fentanyl-laced pills were found in a Pawtucket apartment, according to the release.

Agents also seized $4,232 cash Quintanilha was carrying and admitted was "from his drug trafficking activities," the release said.

Quintanilha pleaded guilty in June to charges of possession with intent to distribute and attempt to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl. He has been detained in federal custody since his arrest in May 2024.
