Woman In Police Custody Slips Out Of Handcuffs And Escapes Hospital: Jamestown Cops
The woman had been taken to Newport hospital after she "reported feeling ill," police said.
JAMESTOWN, RI — A woman in custody on a reckless driving charge wriggled out of her handcuffs and escaped from a hospital, the Jamestown police said.
Officers were preparing to take the woman to Newport District Court for an arraignment on the reckless driving charge and a charge of probation violation when she "reported feeling ill" shortly before 8:30 a.m. Monday, the Jamestown police said in a media release.
The woman was "transported to Newport Hospital for evaluation under police supervision," the release said.

"While at the hospital, the woman was able t o manipulate her handcuffs and walked out of the examination
room," according to the release.
The woman's freedom was short-lived, however, as she was located in a North Kingstown business Tuesday afternoon and taken back into custody, the release said.
