📰 News we're reading

• As students return to school, so do school zone speed cameras (turnto10.com) — If you drive in Middletown, be ready: school zone speed cameras that issued over 6,500 violations by mid-March are switching back on as students return. The automated system, used statewide within a quarter mile of schools, is meant to slow drivers and could hit your wallet if you're not watching your speed.

• Community coming together to help self-employed Middletown woman seriously injured in crash (fallriverreporter.com) — A self-employed Middletown hairstylist and Pilates instructor is recovering from serious injuries after a head-on crash in New Hampshire, and neighbors have already donated over $20,000 to support her long recovery. Detailed injuries to her and her mother underscore how long she may be out of work, but she's staying positive. Locals are rallying with financial help, prayers, and encouragement.

• 'Gravy' the traffic-loving Rhode Island turkey, finds permanent home (boston25news.com) — Middletown residents may recognize "Gravy," the turkey once famous for blocking Rhode Island traffic, who is now safely off the roads for good. After being hit by a car and repeatedly returning to busy streets, Gravy has been moved permanently to the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island in North Kingstown, where he'll join their educational programs for visitors.
