A recent survey, of about 200,000 folks in the workplace, indicated that the most, highly-ranked, and, common 'complaint' among these employees, was the lack of appraisal and positive-reinforcement, present in their respective jobs. Let's face facts, shall we? We ALL work to make a paycheck; this monetary 'thanks', for a 'job well done', is great, and, usually, the impetus behind the need to work. However, if our efforts go unnoticed, in all other regards; when we don't get those, occasional, 'pats on the back', a key-component to our overall sense of accomplishment is missing. It seems, that, in many people's personal experience, an employer is, more, apt and able to make note of an infraction, by an employee; to point out any and all things perceived to be 'incorrect'. Yet, many of these 'boss-type' men and woman, people who've attained managerial and supervisory positions, are sparse in their delegation of compliment(s) and praise, and, this is unfortunate. When praise is offered, as easily as criticism, it makes for happier, healthier, humans, who, just may, work a bit harder, knowing that they are appreciated. We all desire to feel important and significant; this a basic, fundamental, human-need. Positive-affirmation, for a thing accomplished, is necessary, as, is discipline, when it is called for. So, as we walk through this life, let us be sure to offer praise and positivity to those we encounter, when the situation elicits such response. Naturally, at times, it is ok to criticize, also, when done in a constructive and loving way; in so doing, it is imperative to be gentle. Perhaps, we can follow this guiding rule for each...Praise LOUDLY ~ Correct Softly. Just Sayin'...
