A Lie Will NEVER Become The Truth...

     'Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. ~ Sir Walter Scott ~ Most of us, even, not being literary-aficionados, are familiar with this quote; Though, many of us, as myself, it seems, attribute these word to Shakespeare...see that, I learned something, today! Oh well...More important than the messenger, is the message, that this sentiment conveys. I would imagine that, when, most, people, think of this expression, and, the idea of lying, the majority think of the lies that 'other-people' tell, and, not, perhaps, consider the 'sin(s) of omission' which we can be responsible for, within our own-psyches. The thing is, the human-self is very, adept, at lying to 'itself'; we can believe our own, B.S., and, convince ourselves of anything to support our, own, bad-behavior. Why do folks lie to themselves? For the same, EXACT, reason(s) one would choose dishonesty over truth, in any, other, situation, with another; Because, one feels it's 'easier' to avoid a reality, than address it. In general, it seems that many, people are afeared of honesty, whether offering it to someone else, or, to him or herself. Honesty, can, often, be misconstrued as insensitivity, when not delivered in a kind and loving fashion, or, communicated from a position of 'ownership' of feelings; and, for this reason, and, others, 'lying', either, actively, or, inactively, as in a case of deferring from the truth, to avoid confrontation, is more, acceptable, than the TRUTH. Honesty has gotten a, very, bad, rap! The thing is, though, it gets easier and easier, as we go along, to tell an untruth; and, things get messier, and, less, clear-cut, when we lie. Heck...sometimes 'the truth hurts', but, ONLY, if we let it. What hurts worse are the ramifications from lies told, that, either, stand in the way of a real-relationship with someone we care for, or, even, one with ourselves, whom we ought care for most. Martin Luther King, in a very, famous, speech, quoted from the Bible, when incorporating the message, from, John 8:32 'Then you will know the truth, and 'the TRUTH will set you FREE'.' ...Just Sayin'...
