Another Thresher Shark Spotted Off Narragansett
The shark was first spotted at The Dunes Club, and later at Narragansett Town Beach.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Another thresher shark was spotted off the coast of Rhode Island Thursday afternoon. The thresher shark was first seen near the Dunes Club in Narragansett, then later at Narragansett Town Beach.
The Department of Environmental Management was not consulted for the initial sighting, DEM spokesperson Mike Healey told Patch, but the department was called in by the Narragansett Fire Department after the second sighting at the town beach.
The DEM sent a boat to assist in the response, and the Narragansett fire boat was patrolling the area around 3 p.m., trying to spot the shark. The DEM boat, positioned about halfway between Narragansett Town Beach and the opening of Narrow River. While DEM marine biologists hadn't seen the shark, Healey said, they did see large schools of menhaden, a major food source.
