Beauty Is As Beauty Does...

We're all familiar with the phrase that, 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.' I've, always, presumed that this statement referred to a person's exterior-self, and, I do believe that most of us interpret the sentiment in this way. Certainly, I can and do appreciate the physical, natural, beauty, of a human-being; However, today, at this stage of my existence, I prefer to acknowledge the inner-beauty of a party, regardless of what they look like on the outside. Some of us may be familiar with a movie, entitled, 'Shallow Hal', which starred Jack Black. He portrayed Hal, a shallow, superficial, man, who would pay attention, only, to women he perceived as attractive; otherwise, he, virtually, ignored them. It happens that a 'spell', of sorts, is cast upon Hal; one which would allow him to see a person's inner-beauty, and, thus, find them attractive. The movie is silly, and, scatological, yet, it's 'message' is poignant. For, it seems, so often, we, as a culture, look to the obvious, outside presentation of a soul, rather than seeing his or her soul, and, sometimes, ignore those persons whom we may see as unattractive or unappealing, disregarding them as unimportant. Thank goodness Jesus isn't the type who sees only the surface-value of who we are. He sees our true, inner-being, and, honestly, we know that some folks aren't 'terribly evolved', to say the least, and, guess what?...He loves us all, anyway. He does so, because he KNOWS the, true-beauty, which, exists within all of His children, regardless of whether or not we see it in ourselves. Let's face it...we've all seen humans, who, are blessed with the characteristics of physical-loveliness. When these, same, persons, are, additionally, lovely on the inside, they are blessed, further still. However, if they are negative, nasty, individuals, they, in my eyes, fail to possess any beauty, at all. These days, in the same way that I perceive my God to do, I look deeper, to discover the real, quality, of a person's being, rather than to acknowledge only their shell. As the expression goes, 'Beauty is only skin deep, but, 'ugly, (as in bad attitude, behavior, character, etc.) goes clean to the bone.' When our 'inner-light' shines, it shows on the outside; and, in my opinion, this makes anyone, truly, beautiful! Just Sayin'...
