Boat Catches Fire At Port Of Galilee In Narragansett

The fire required the help of South Kingstown, Kingston and North Kingstown's fire departments to put out, Narragansett fire officials say.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — A commercial fishing boat docked at the Port of Galilee in Narragansett caught fire Sunday evening.

Around 6 p.m., fire officials said crews were called to the docks near State Street for the large boat fire, which spread to the docks.

Narragansett firefighters and a rescue truck responded, while firefighters from the Union Fire District of South Kingstown, the Kingston Fire District, and the North Kingstown Fire Department also helped extinguish the flames.

Fire officials said the fire was out fast, and though the docks were charred, there didn't appear to be any structural damage. It's not yet clear if the boat is fixable.

No injuries were reported, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
