Locals to Participate in Walk Supporting Welcome House
Welcome House of South County's 25th annual Walk for Shelter is May 11 at the Peace Dale Congregational Church.

Welcome House of South County, an emergency and transitional shelter for Rhode Islanders in need, announced plans for its 25th annual Walk for Shelter.
Sponsored walkers will step off for the 3.3 mile walk through scenic Peace Dale to raise awareness for local community members in need, as well as valuable funds for Welcome House of South County.
With prize incentives available for top fundraisers, community members are encouraged to visit the organization’s website to register for the May 11 event.

“We have all experienced hard times or sought to help friends through their most difficult hours, and here at Welcome House of South County we’ve had the opportunity to help hundreds of individuals and families,” said Kenneth Burke, the president of the board.
He continued, “Our daily soup kitchen served 17,000 people last year, and our beds are always in demand. We look forward to our annual Walk for Shelter as a chance for the entire community to join us in our mission to serve our most vulnerable members in their time of need.”

There is a $20 registration fee, with waivers available for walkers raising more than $100. More information is available here.
