But, Baby...It's COLD, Outside!

Growing up, I always, heard, my Memere say, that, if the Winter didn't present us with frigid-temps, and, significant, snow, the flu-'bugs' would be, more, prevalent. I never know if this was, simply, an 'old-wive's tale' or, if there was, true, significance to her, 'annual-report'. As it turn out, the flu-viruses, actually, THRIVE in the colder temps, as they tend to stay more, stable, and, stay in the air longer, when it is COLD. Well...there goes the 'old girl's', theory! Contrarily, these 'little nasties' will become eradicated in temperatures between 167-212°F [75-100°C], which, are normal cooking temperatures. Obviously, WE wouldn't survive these, elevated, numerical, measurements, either! The main reason folks get sicker in the Winter months, than at any other time of the year, is that we live in closer, confines; We tend to keep indoors, with greater, frequency, and, because of this, we can spread germs more readily. Simply because those old, flu-bugs are 'out there', in the cold, doesn't, truly, translate to much. They don't 'attack' us, from behind, while we're outdoors, enjoying cold-weather activities. The only way to contract the flu is through our contact with someone who is ill, or, by touching a thing that a sick person has had his/her hands all over. So...get outside and enjoy the brisk, colder, weather, that this time of year brings about. You'll be HEALTHIER, for it! Just Sayin'...
