Driver Charged After Crash Critically Injures High School Student
Evan Conover, 18, is facing felony charges following a Friday night crash that critically injured one of his fellow classmates.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. -- A South Kingstown High School student is facing felony charges following a crash Friday night that critically injured a fellow classmate and injured another.
Evan Conover, 18, is facing two counts of driving to endanger, one with personal injury resulting and one of injury to another person resulting.
South Kingstown Police say the crash happened around 11:15 p.m. on March 8, when Conover was driving on Curtis Corner Road with two other South Kingstown High School students when his car swerved off the road, hitting a fence and landing in a field. Conover and an unidentified 17-year-old passenger were taken to South County Hospital, while 18-year-old Aidan Mulligan was flown to Rhode Island Hospital by helicopter in with life-threatening injuries. Mulligan remains in critical condition.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha and the South Kingstown Accident Reconstruction Team are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Conover is set to appear in Washington County District Court for a felony screening on June 11.

A GoFundMe set up by Mulligan's mother on Sunday has already more than tripled its goal of $5,000.
"My son, Aidan, was in a serious car crash Friday night and has a significant brain injury," Sharry Cota Mulligan wrote. "His brain is starting to swell, this is expected. The hope at this time is that the pressure doesn’t injure the brain or that he strokes. This process could take a week or two. Keep praying, be kind to others and hug your loved ones."
Nearly 300 people have contributed to the campaign, raising more than $16,600 in two days.
