It's A NOISY Day In The Neighborhood....

     I sit here, this A.M., drinking my morning java, and, listening to the outdoor sounds...the birds, as they flit about, on their daily excursions, the soft-breeze, whispering through the leaves, AND, the disruptive-disquietude of a bulldozer, unearthing trees, across the way, this, particular, racket, not one, typically, heard here. Evidently, the company, across the railroad-tracks, is making some 'improvements' to their, property. I guess this is a 'good' thing...progress, and, all that; yet, as I listen to the trees being uprooted, torn from their, very, root-systems, I wonder. Somehow, this saddens me a might. It's not, so much, the out of character-clamor, that, has me feeling a tad, 'distressed' as it is the realization, that, these, trees, are being 'sacrificed' for, what appears to be, a, larger, parking-area, reminding of of Joni Mitchell's song, from the 70's, 'Big Yellow Taxi', with lyrics, 'They paved 'Paradise' and put up a parking-lot'. Naturally, the business, which, exists, across form me, is no 'Paradise' for sure; yet, it does abut some beautiful, woodlands and meadowland, some of which is being torn-apart for this 'project'. I'm gonna go 'out on a limb', here, and guess, that, the party who is operating the heavy-machinery, ISN'T thinking about the 'killing' he/she is responsible for, today; and, far be it from me to 'judge' him/her for that. I suppose, if one thought too hard about this, one would find it difficult to engage in this, type, work. I'm a bit of an 'oddball' at times, I'll admit to that; with, this being evident in how I feel, regarding the 'desecration' of the deciduous-plants and trees, along with their evergreen-companions. With each 'snap' of a tree-trunk, I cringe a bit, truth be told. In order to feel less, 'bad' about this destruction, I have chosen to 'take in' the life-force from these, trees, not unlike the Native Americans, who, when killing a thing for the sake of the tribe, prayed to their 'Higher-Power' to absorb the life-energy, of whatever it was they were sacrificing, for their 'Greater-Good'. From the sound of things, out there, I'll be realizing a, whole, lotta, EXTRA-energy, today! Just Sayin'...
