Judge, Not...

'Don't judge a book by it's cover, see a man by his cloth, as there is, often, a good deal of solid worth and superior skill underneath a (???) jacket and yaller(yellow) pants.' This, statement, was printed in the newspaper, the 'Piqua Democrat', in June of 1867, with, a sentiment, which is, very, much alive, in my 'heart', today. Many of us are quick to 'judge' others, based on, nothing more than, appearance; we can, 'come to hasty, conclusions' about folks we do not know, based on our 'first-impressions' of them. When we act in this manner, we, not only are doing a disservice to others, but, are doing one to ourselves, as well. It is impossible to discern the true character of a soul, simply, by taking note of a person's outward appearance; yet, this is a common occurrence, which I observe. For many reasons, this is quite, unfair, to the party whom is being, unjustly, 'judged'; for, based on an exterior-presence, alone, we have no way of determining a person's true-nature, his or her personality...his or her HEART. When I take note of this, unfair, practice, I find myself thinking of Jesus, and how He looks past the physical, into the 'heart and soul' of His Flock. In embracing this belief, and, in wishing to be like Him, I try, never, to make, rash, 'appraisal' of individuals I encounter, and, try giving folks a fair-shake, without formulating opinions. For, as far as I'm concerned, first-impressions will, often lead to wrong conclusions, about someone. And, honestly, most of us would find this to be a personal-affront, or, take umbrage to this treatment, if it were bestowed upon us, wouldn't we? 'If we could view through eyes of Faith, the People we meet each, day, We'd, quickly, see God's gracious hand, In ALL who come our way.' ~ D. DeHaan ~ Just Sayin'...
