Holy Moly...I CANNOT recall the last time it rained, this, HARD...talk about 'coming down in buckets'! The drumming, from the torrents, beating upon my roof, woke me, before the alarm-clock. I just read, where, the heaviest rainfall would be between the hours of 4-7AM; and, although, still, heavy, the rain has abated, just a bit, in the last, few, minutes, (6:40, to be precise) Still has another 20 minutes to POUR! It used to be, since, living, here, that, I would dread forecasts, which, threatened the, type, weather, we are enduring, today; This, before the small, culvert-bridge, which I must access to get to my home, was repaired, along with the damn, further, upriver. For, Pre-'reconstruction', I could count-on the bridge flooding-out, and, the neighbors, along with me and my family, becoming 'trapped' on our-side of the river.. As our property abuts the railway, due East, and, there is no access out of here, from, either, a Northerly, or, Southerly, direction, due to the geography, we were SCR*WED! If we had enough 'forewarning', we might park our cars, on the other side of the railway, at a local, business, which we can drive to, by way of local, back-roads. However, once parked there, in order to get back to our vehicles, it was necessary to walk over the tracks, which, is against Federal Law, and, rather-scary...truth be told. We do live on the longest, straightaway, on the Amtrak Line; Yet, even, though, one can see a train coming from 'a mile away', it's not, terribly, comforting, when, having to cross-over the tracks on foot. Thankfully, we no longer must experience this; But, I must say, looking back, it did make for some pretty, 'interesting' moments. I recall, once, before the bridge-repair, while walking one of the pooches, on a terrible, rain-driven day, watching the river's, swollen-waters, rushing over the bridge; It was on this day that I witnessed one of THE funniest things, I've seen, since living here; this, in the form of a beaver, body-surfing, in the 'white-water' cascading, OVER the bridge. I've been, 'entertained' a, great, deal, by Mother-Nature, and, her 'antics, over the years; Yet, that, moment, 'tops the list'! In any event, today's wet-weather poses no threat, of any kind, other, than, perhaps, to soak me, and the pup, later, when I walk her. Otherwise, it can keep comin' down. Heck...sure beats the HECK outta 'the white-stuff', right? So, today, as with every, day...'Let a SMILE be your umbrella.' Although, you MIGHT want to bring- along a REAL one ...just in case! Just Sayin'...
