Life, Eternal...

   To everything, (turn, turn, turn), there is a Season, (turn, turn, turn), and a time for every purpose, under Heaven.' These are lyrics, from a song, written by Pete Seeger, in the late 1950s; these, lyrics, adapted, almost entirely, from verses in the Book of Ecclesiastes. As these words suggest, all things in life occur, as and when they are intended, up to, and, including the death of any and all living things. We've heard the expression, that, 'All good things come to an end.' Certainly, this sentiment can apply to a thing as simple as a book we're reading, one, which is so enjoyable, that we hate to have it end, or, a movie that is so engaging, we think we'd love for it to continue on. Perhaps, we've gone away on vacation, and, are experiencing such pleasure that we cannot stand the idea of it ending. Yet, all things, good or bad, will and do come to a close, with life, ultimately, being one of these things. Life does and will come to an end, sometimes, sooner than we expect. All of us who've stood by the casket of a loved one know the painful emptiness of a heart that wishes it wasn't over, yet. It is at these times when I am thankful to acknowledge that Jesus is here to step into the fray of terminal disappointments. Through His death and resurrection, He interjects Hope for us. In Him, 'the end' is a prelude to a death-free eternity; through Him, words, such as 'it's over' are replaced by a joy-filled 'forever'. Our bodies are not eternal, they each, do, have a Season. However, our spiritual-selves live on, offering 'death' no true victory; and, for me, choosing to cling to this belief, allows for life, here, to be, even more special than it is, already. Just Sayin'...
