Narragansett Attorney Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison for Stealing $900K from Clients

Patrick Allienello, 48, was also sentenced to three years of home confinement and 10 years probation following his release.

A Narragansett attorney was sentenced to three years in prison for embezzling about $900,000 from clients.

Patrick Allienello, 48, was also sentenced to three years of home confinement and 10 years probation following his release.

Authorities said Allienello stole the money from 2007 to 2009 by accepting real estate closing funds via wire transfer and failing to pay outstanding mortgages on properties.

“This defendant used his position as an attorney and member of his community to steal from individuals who relied on him to handle their real estate closings only to learn later that he stole their money leaving some financially ruined in the aftermath of foreclosures and bankruptcy,” said state Attorney General Peter Kilmartin in a statement.
