'When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became an ADULT, I put away CHILDISH things.' ~ This, Biblical, quotation, from 1 Corinthians 13:11 ~ New King James Version, which I amended, slightly, comments on the realization and acceptance of how, as a grown-person, one, behaves, in more 'grown-up' fashion, by 'putting away' CHILDISH behavior(s). As children, we, typically, have less, life-skill, and, ability to make the decisions our adult-selves often must. As youngsters, we, frequently, whine and complain, when life throws us curve-balls, as, til we learn how to better, cope, we know no other way. If we are fortunate enough to have great, example(s) to follow, displayed by adults in our lives, we will, eventually, learn, life-lessons, and, begin, ourselves to behave in appropriate, adult, fashion. This being said, being CHILDISH, is in no way, similar, to possessing a CHILD-LIKE nature. There IS a distinct, difference, between being childish, Vs. child-like. I am a huge, proponent of a party maintaining a' child-like' attitude, as he or she goes through life; not to act as a 'baby', but, to recall the absolute, purity of spirit, that exists in children, and, to allow one's-self the freedom to enjoy life from that 'place'. We are 'put upon this earth' to experience both pain and pleasure, as from these, we attempt to find a healthy-balance, as we live our lives. When dealing with the painful, and, pain-filled realities, we MUST utilize our adult-skills, as we, hopefully, continue to 'fine-hone' them, through our challenges. Due to the fact that we DO have such, struggle, it is very, vital, when we can, to embrace the PLEASURABLE moments, and, enjoy them to their fullest, in the manner in which children will, with, complete, abandon, and joy. We are, basically, and, intrinsically, HAPPY and JOY-FILLED creatures. This fact can be exhibited by watching a new-born baby. Before a child has a 'learned' sense of humor, or, understands language, at all, he or she will laugh and smile, as it is in our NATURE to be HAPPY. Sadly, with life's 'BLOWS', often comes the loss of our acknowledging this, truth. As we have heard, countless times over our lives, 'Laughter IS the BEST medicine'. I, for one, believe this to be true. I LOVE to laugh! When something elicits a belly-laugh, chuckle, chortle, or, snort, from me, I am all for it; for, I realize that, when I 'let go' and, allow myself the 'gift' of such release, I am being true to my nature, and, staying in touch with my genuine-self. Just Sayin'...
