Police Log: January 18, 2011
The following reports describe the actions of the South Kingstown Police Department from Thursday, jan. 13 through Sunday afternoon, Jan. 16.
One TV Taken, Another TV Left In Front Room
On Thursday, Jan. 13 around 9:20 p.m. a South Kingstown Police officer responded to a house on South County trail for a reported breaking and entering. Police met with the victims on scene who stated someone gained access to their house overnight by smashing in a basement window. Once inside the culprits retrieved a 32-inch television. A larger flat screen TV was left in the front foyer, likely due to the fact that the culprits were not able to unlock the front door dead bolt. The culprits also appeared to have rummaged through jewelry drawers and took an undisclosed amount of jewelry. The investigation remains open.
Man Turns Self In For Assault

On Friday, Jan. 14 around 9:40 a.m. Peter Bacon, 32, of 43 Crestwood Lane in Charlestown turned himself in to the South Kingstown Police Department. Bacon was wanted by the department for charges of simple assault and an active bench warrant from fourth district court. He was processed and later transported to Fourth District Court for arraignment.
Man Assaulted Outside CODAC Center

On Saturday, Jan. 15 around 12:05 p.m. police took an in-station complaint from a man who stated he was assaulted outside the CODC Center in peace Dale by a man known to him. Police gathered information about the suspect based on the victim’s descriptions. The suspect has not been located as of press time.
Man Arrested On Two Counts
On Saturday, Jan. 15 around 7:30 p.m. an officer stopped at a red light on Route 1 facing west observed a southbound vehicle run a red light. The officer pursued and pulled over the suspect vehicle. Inside was Daniel Tedeschi, 26, of 268 Kingstown Rd. in Narragansett. Tedeschi was accompanied by a female whom he was barred from being in contact with via court order. He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of violating a protective order.
Snowball Fight Yields Arrest
On Sunday, Jan. 16 around 12:53 a.m. an officer responded to the area of 50 Meadowbrook Way for a report of juveniles throwing snowballs at complainants at home. Police arrived on scene and learned from the complainant that a juvenile resident was responsible for the bulk of the disturbance, and had banged on her door. Police located the juvenile at a nearby home, a 15-year-old male, and were able to identify him as the culprit. The youth would not comply with officers and was only secured in custody after officers administered OC spray into his facial region. He was taken to SKPD and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Other Incidents
On Thursday, Jan. 13 around 4:15 p.m. police were called to a House on Amos Street to take a vehicle damage complaint. Police met with the victim who stated the passenger side rear view mirror of her GMC Sonoma had been damaged. The investigation remains open.
Joseph Gallo, 23, of 36 Tucker Ave. in South Kingstown was arrested for driving with a suspended license on Saturday, Jan. 15 after a traffic stop on Old Tower Hill Road. He was taken to SKPD, processed, and later released with a summons.
On Sunday, Jan. 16 around 1:50 p.m. police were called to a house on Kingstown Road to take a complaint of larceny. The homeowners stated $300 in currency was missing from their son’s wallet, as well as $30 from a piggy bank and $150 from a protein jar. Police have begun an investigation.
Around 3:14 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16 police were called to the Matunuck Oyster Bar on Succotash Road to take a complaint from the owner regarding harassing phone calls from a former employee. Police gathered information from the owner and based on his statements they have warned to suspect for trespassing and harassment.
