Rhode Island DEM Hiring Lifeguards For State Beaches
The department is looking to hire seasonal lifeguards, state park rangers and attendants.

NARRAGANSETT, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is hiring lifeguards for the 2020 summer season. The department is also in need of facilities attendants for state parks and campgrounds.
Full-time jobs are available at saltwater beaches including Misquamicut, Roger Wheeler and Scarborough, as well as non-surf areas such as Goddard Park and freshwater swimming areas like Burlingame Campground and Lincoln Woods State Park. Lifeguards at the busiest beaches will have flexible, 2- hour workweeks. Pay rates have been raised from 2019, and now range from $13.25 to $16.25 per hour, depending on location and position level.
All lifeguard candidates must have completed courses and valid cards in lifeguard training, first aid and CPR, including infant, child and adult. Anyone 16 years or older is eligible to apply.

The department is also looking for park rangers and facilities attendants. These employees offer directions to visitors, help with crowd control, provide security checks and act as first responders in case of emergency. Pay rates for rangers range from $10.50 to $11.60 per hour. Facility attendant and park ranger level one applicants must be 16 years or older, while level two and three applicants must be at least 18 years old.
