A Matter of OPINION...

Although, I attempt practicing acceptance, and, tolerance, of others, and, in doing such, feel, overall, that I manage fairly well, there are, still, indeed, certain things that challenge me. One of the personal, difficulties, I find myself frequently, facing, is my lack of permissive attitude toward the faction of our society who believes that EVERYONE is entitled to 'fame and fortune'. I want, automatically, to attribute this to the reality that I am growing older, and, as my parents before me, 'just don't 'get' the 'societal' changes that have occurred, over the years'; Yet, in being completely honest with myself, I know that this type thinking, on my behalf, has been a part of who I am, for as long as I can recall. I have NEVER subscribed to the belief-system, nor, have I held the opinion, which accepts that all human-beings, although, 'special' in each his or her, unique, way, are talented to the degree that allows for his/her own television exposure, reality show, or, '15 minutes of fame'. Today, it seems that the message to our youth is one which supports this absurdity. Of course, all one need do is 'tune-in' to the televised, tune-fests, that the air-waves provide as entertainment, and, witness the myriad of shows which purport this prevailing psychological-state. I feel that some, certain, shows send the wrong message to young folks, whom, upon viewing this type television, may run off thinking that, they, too, have the same opportunity to excel in the entertainment arena. Does everybody really require their own reality show? Honestly...it's totally ludicrous, to me. For the stark reality is this; Everybody DOES NOT have talent, America! From 'American Idol', 'Sing-Off', and 'The Voice', come a crop of contestants, who, in my, personal, opinion, are barely unique, and, all, tend to sound the same; and, before one knows it, ONE, MORE, cookie-cutter cutie-pie, has managed a record-label, or, is invited to perform at a public-venue, where, he or she bellows out ANOTHER, botched-up version of 'The Star- Spangled Banner'. Believe me, I am not 'bashing' anybody, who chooses to indulge in this form of entertainment; it's simply not for me, is all. We're all different, and, in so being, find pleasure in varying, distinct, and, dissimilar forms of entertainment. I imagine that some folks would disagree with my chosen form of television-viewing, and, that's 'cool' with me. We're all entitled to our, own opinion, after all! Just Sayin'...
