South Kingstown Closes Playgrounds: Coronavirus In RI

Town buildings including the senior center and library will remain closed until further notice.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Spring may be here, but kids and families in South Kingstown are being asked to stay away from the town's playgrounds until further notice. In an effort to restrict gatherings of 10 people or more, town officials made the "difficult decision" to close these public areas until further notice.

At this time, public parks will remain open, the town said in a release. Signs will be posted at all playgrounds in the next few days as a reminder. Those who choose to visit parks are asked to practice social distancing, staying six feet apart from others and avoiding close, personal contact.

All surface at parks such as benches and picnic tables are frequently sanitized, the town said in a release.
