The only thing, besides ourselves, that, we can 'count on', in this lifetime of ours, is the inevitable-nature of life, which, is 'change'. So, true, is this, that, thousands of years ago, a very, astute and wise man, stated, that, 'The only constant in life is change'; This, man, Heraclitus, was a Greek professor who lived from 535 BC to 475 BC. Yet, it doesn't take the intellectual-prowess of a professor, or, philosopher, to acknowledge this, reality. One need only, live a life, experiencing the constant-change (quite an oxymoron, huh?) which, is, basically, the 'name of the game', called 'life'. It is 'one thing' to realize, this, truth...quite, another, to accept and embrace it, with this, assent to the reality of, the, 'situation', bringing with it a freedom, which, allows for 'peace and harmony', within. Whenever, people, 'argue', with themselves, about a new-reality, cannot 'move on' from an 'old way' of thinking, or, won't 'let go' of ideas and notions, which, no longer serve them, this makes for unnecessary, stress, angst, and, unhappiness. I hear folks, constantly, in the throes of 'denial' of a, particular, 'position or posture', lamenting, the loss of something they cannot leave in the past, while, they, unrealistically, rue a 'change' which has occurred. Recently, I have overheard, this, type, trepidation, wrapped-around the Easter-Holiday, and, what it 'once' was, and, what it 'SHOULD' be. Sure, it can be 'disappointing' to no longer participate in 'old-family traditions', or, to 'miss' the merriment of such, events and occurrence. But, when one allows one's-self to become depressed, to any degree, over a differing-dynamic...a 'change', I find this to be 'unhealthy'. First of all, in my belief-system, there exists NO such thing as 'Should'; for, this is how folks find themselves afeared of 'change'. If one believes, that, any, particular, thing, SHOULD be a specific-way, there is very, little, opportunity for this, person, to accept change, when it happens. I try, diligently, to avoid the use of this, word, for, it 'sets us up' to have expectations, and, in my lifetime, I have come to understand, that, the less we expect, the happier we are. No matter what a person believes or thinks SHOULD happen, within his or her life, the stark-reality is this...LIFE happens, with a great deal of it, out of our control, and, UN-expected. Certainly, we can 'fight' against this, truth, or, we can, 'welcome' it. The choice, is ALWAYS, ours. Rather, than, being 'full of SHOULDS', believe instead, that, 'It IS what it IS', and, learn to live, this, simple, 'philosophy'. Then, no matter what 'change' comes about, you can 'deal with' what 'life' doles out. Just Sayin'...
