Union Fire District Gets New Deputy Chief
Captain Andy Duckworth joined the department in 2005 as a junior member before transitioning to an active firefighter position in 2007.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI — The Union Fire District has a new deputy chief, and he's been a mainstay in the district since 2005.
The former Captain Andy Duckworth had his first day as Deputy Chief Duckworth Aug. 22, making the move from the Matunuck Station to a command position for the entire district. He now is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations, covering duty shifts, and coordinating recruitment and retention programs for the Union Fire District.
Duckworth joined the department in 2005 as a junior member before transitioning to an active firefighter position in 2007.

Shortly after, in 2009, Duckworth became a lieutenant. From 2011 until last month, he served as a captain at the Matunuck Fire Department.
In addition to his career in the fire service, Deputy Chief Duckworth works for the Town of Narragansett Parks and Recreation Department.

"It's an honor to have Andy as the UFD's new Deputy Chief," Chief Pinch said in a news release Monday. "He is a skilled and seasoned firefighter and leader. I look forward to working with him and to see him succeed in his new role."
The position of deputy chief has been vacant since Warden Richard Collinson retired.
