'Weighing in' on the TRUTH...

There is a very prevalent and harsh reality, alive in our world, today, regarding some people's perspective(s), with respect to self-image, self-appraisal, and, ultimately, self-love; this being the lack of self-acceptance, often, based on one's size and weight. Many people seem to define themselves, predicated on the number of pounds that they weigh, rather, than to recognize their true self-worth, based on knowing and understanding who they are inside. I've known several people, mostly, female, throughout my lifetime, whom, when feeling the need to shed a few LB's, seem bereft of general well-being, due to their seeming, sole, focus, on a desire to 'get back in shape'; it's all they think about, and, ultimately, the topic of most conversation(s) they hold; this, to the point of distraction. I understand the desire to look and feel well; most, especially, in the area of knowing good health. Yet, if, I, as I tend to do each winter, pack on a few extra pounds, I do not permit myself to become so wrapped-up in this, as to lose my sense of self-worth. We live in a society that tends to place more importance on how one looks, rather than who one is; and, as the result of such, many folks find themselves focusing on features, external, rather than turning inward to discover their genuine selves. Our bodies are just our bodies, and, yes, it's important for them to be healthy; after all, they are the temples in which reside our perfect, spiritual, selves. It's imperative to understand and recognize these 'TRUTHS'. If we discover ourselves falling victim to the type thinking that allows for negative, self-perception, based on poor body image, it's important to keep a few thoughts in mind. For example: My weight doesn't determine my worth.
My weight doesn't make me more, or, less important than I am.
My weight doesn't have to ruin my confidence.
My weight doesn't determine what I'm capable of. Additionally, remember that, no matter how others in the world perceive us, the only thing that matters is how we perceive ourselves. We are all PERFECT-BEINGS, residing in imperfect shells. Our external selves DO NOT define who we are. The real 'YOU' is residing, just below the surface of the temporary house you dwell in, while walking this earth-plane. So, take care of it, love it, and, honor it; as it is the vehicle which allows for, this, our 'Human-experience'. I don't know about the rest of you, but, this is an opportunity that I wouldn't have missed for the world! Just Sayin'...
