District Court Log: Middletown Man Ordered to Pay Courts for Obstruction Charge

The following actions were taken in Second District Court in Newport on Tuesday, Dec. 14. The following information is based solely on court records:

• Jermaine R. Brewster, 27, of 7 Roy Ave., Middletown, was ordered to pay $93.50 in court costs by Feb. 14, 2011. Brewster was arrested on Dec. 3 by Newport police and charged with simple assault and obstructing an officer. Brewster pleaded no contest to both charges and received a suspended sentence for one year with probation and costs for the assault charge and a suspended sentence for one-year with probation without cost. Brewster was also arrested on Oct. 30 by Newport Police and charged with simple assault (third offense) and disorderly conduct. On Dec. 1, he was released on $10,000 personal recognizance. On Tuesday, Brewster admitted to those violations and was sentenced to time served.
• Mark S. Baillargeon, 39, of 2 Middletown Ave., Newport, was ordered to pay $1,110.50 in court costs by Feb. 14, 2011. Baillargeon was arrested on Sept. 29 by the Rhode Island State Police in Middletown and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to pay $400 plus court costs, a loss of license for one year, 10 hours of community service, alcohol treatment and six months home confinement. Baillargeon was arrested on July 24 in Middletown and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol (second offense). For that offense, he pleaded no contest and had to pay $400 plus court costs, received a one-year loss of license retroactive to Oct. 7, 10 hours of community service and six months home confinement.
• Brian Jackson, 18, of 90 Girard Ave., Newport was ordered to pay $352 by Feb. 14, 2011. Jackson was arrested on Sept. 27 in Portsmouth by Rhode Island State Police and charged with operating a motor vehicle without consent. 
• Tiffany A. Johnson, 18, of 116 Girard Ave., Apt. A, Newport, was ordered to pay $352 in court costs Tuesday by Feb. 14, 2011. Johnson was arrested on Sept. 27 in Portsmouth by Rhode Island State Police and charged with operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. 
• Jessica A. Grant, 31, of 212 Camp St., Providence, was ordered to pay $218.50 in court costs by Feb. 14, 2011. Grant was arrested on Oct. 30 by Newport police and charge with simple assault. Grant pleaded no contest and was sentenced to domestic violence counseling and received a no contact order. Grant was arrested on May 2 by Newport police and charged with creating a public disturbance. For that charge, she pleaded no contest and was sentenced to six months probation and to pay a court cost. After missing the court appearance for payment, Grant was brought in on a bench warrant to pay $218.50 in court costs on Oct. 7.
• Dockeem A. McCoy, 23, of 141 Third St., Apt. J, Newport, was ordered to pay $218.50 in court costs by Feb. 14, 2011. McCoy was arrested on Oct. 21 by Newport police and charged with assault and battery. McCoy pleaded no contestand received a one-year suspended sentence with probation, domestic violence counseling and a no contact order.
• Joao M. Debrito, 27, of 90 Purchase St., New Bedford, MA paid $100 in court costs on Tuesday. Debrito was arrested on Oct. 3 in Castle Hill Cove in Newport by the Department of Environmental Management and charged with possession of undersized tautog and exceeding the daily amount of tautog. Upon receipt of the $100 to the Victim's Crime Indemnity Fund on Tuesday, the charges were dismissed.
