Homebuyer Education Classes

Do you dream of owning a home someday? 

Do you wonder how close you are to making that dream come true?

CCHC, a non-profit housing and community development organization with a

44-year history of serving Newport County, invites you to join
our next homebuyer training class. Join the class and we will help you answer these questions.

Classes start Thursday, 01/09/2014

8 classes, meeting 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. every other Thursday, cover the following topics: 

  • analyzing spending and identifying ways to save money,
  • maintaining and repairing credit,
  • qualifying and shopping for a mortgage, 
  • understanding various affordable
    ownership
    opportunities, 
  • learning about new construction in
    Tiverton & Charlestown, and more!

In one-on-one, confidential meetings with a HUD-certified counselor, each participant
creates a spending plan, reviews credit reports and credit scores, and develops
an action plan.

A Homebuyer Education Certificate is presented to participants who successfully meet all program requirements. This certificate is accepted by
RI Housing and area banks that have programs requiring homebuyer
education.

The cost for the entire course and ongoing CCHC services is
$50 per  household, plus a $14 per person credit report fee that generates two

credit scores.
