Just hours after four Salve Regina students crashed into the wall outside the gate of the Breakers mansion, Newport police deployed officers to the area of the university for an increased traffic enforcement campaign.
The deployment wasn't in reaction to Thursday morning's accident, but is part of an increased enforcement plan scheduled for around the start of school.
"We do get a bit of complaints with the kids coming back," said Police Cpt. Fred Gonsalves. "There's the perception of speeding, more traffic in particular."
