Man Arrested After Allegedly Hiding Under Ex-Girlfriend's Porch

Paul Octavious St. Martin, 48, of 125 Kay Street in Newport, was arrested around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday on a willful trespassing charge and violation of a no-contact order.

Police received a report around 11 p.m. that St. Martin was allegedly hiding under the porch of a home in the 100 block of Gibbs Avenue. Upon arrival, officers searched the area, but didn't find anyone. The woman who lives there, a former girlfriend of St. Martin's, told police that her mother had reportedly seen him moving around next to the crawl space under the back porch. The woman said she'd had problems with St. Martin ever since they broke up, prompting her to get the no-contact order against him.

Police responded to St. Martin's home on Kay Street, which they say was in complete darkness when they arrived. An officer reported seeing someone peek out of one of the living room windows, then pointed a light at the window and saw St. Martin. They knocked on the door and St. Martin answered, telling them that he'd been sleeping and hadn't been to the home on Gibbs Avenue.

Based on the woman's report, and the mother stating she'd witnessed St. Martin on the property, he was arrested and brought to the station for booking.

Man Turns Himself In After Domestic Assault Incident

Miguel Angel Perez, 22, of Providence, was arrested around 10 a.m. Tuesday on a domestic simple assault charge.

Police were dispatched to Bayside Village Apartments around 1:04 a.m. Sept. 8 for a report of a domestic assault there between Perez and a woman with whom he has children. Based on the woman's injuries, police put out a 24-hour pick-up for his arrest.

On Tuesday, Sept. 14, Perez turned himself in for the affidavit and arrest warrant.
