Man Charged with Public Drinking, Littering After Ripping up Ticket
Ryan A. Jamiel, 22, of 266 Pontiac Avenue in Cranston, was arrested around 2:39 a.m. Sunday on charges of drinking in public and littering near the intersection of Thames and Brewer streets.
Police patrolling the area say they observed Jamiel on Thames Street drinking from a clear beer bottle, that he finished off and then threw into the bushes in front of St. Spyridon Church. When the officer approached Jamiel and told him that he would be citing him for the drinking, but was using discretion not to charge him with littering, Jamiel became belligerent, stating that the citation was unnecessary and that he wasn't going to court. He then reportedly ripped the ticket into three pieces.
