Cranston Man Arrested After Incident at Pizza Restaurant

Michael A. Mosco, 57, of Cranston, was arrested around 12:20 a.m. Monday on charges of disorderly conduct near Memorial Boulevard West and Thomas Street.

Police were flagged down around 11:19 p.m. by patrons and staff of Nikolas Pizza, who pointed out Mosco, who was intoxicated and was walking in the center median of Memorial Boulevard.

Police approached Mosco and told him not to drive, to which he replied that he was going to drive, but couldn't because his car was stolen. Police eventually located his vehicle in front of One Pelham East, but didn't tell him where it was for fear that he would drive. They instructed Mosco to call a friend to come get him, but police say he picked up his phone and immediately start talking into it, without dialing a number or pressing send.

After getting him to make a legitimate phone call, police told Mosco to sit on a bench in front of Nikolas Pizza, but staff asked that he not be near their property since he'd been disorderly earlier in the evening. Employees told police that Mosco had walked into the restaurant earlier asking about the whereabouts of his vehicle, and when they told him they couldn't help him, he allegedly put his middle finger up and started yelling at staff and patrons. Employees said he then walked west on Memorial Boulevard and threw a large traffic cone in the roadway. Police asked Mosco about the disorderly behavior, but he denied it, adding that the cone was in the spot where he'd parked earlier. Police indicated that the cone was not near where he originally said he parked.

Officers transported Mosco to the Gateway Center and told him to wait there for his ride, but around 1:15 a.m., they received a call reporting that he was again walking on Memorial Boulevard toward Nikolas Pizza. Police say they arrived to find that he'd soiled his pants and was still walking unsteadily. Mosco allegedly yelled at police that it must be a slow night for them to be back. They instructed him to lower his voice, but he continued to yell, and at one point caused a woman walking on the sidewalk to step out into the street to avoid them. Mosco then made another phone call, but supposedly didn't tell the person why he was calling.

Seeing that he wasn't going to be cooperative, police handcuffed Mosco. They say he kicked his legs out of the cruiser door to try and prevent it from being shut, then said "I will own your badge. You have no idea who I am. You are making a big mistake."

Mosco was eventually brought into the police station for booking.

Assault Charges

• David Antonio Hernandez, 30, of 35 Third Street Apt. 3 in Newport, was arrested around 1:50 p.m. Saturday on a domestic simple assault charge. According to the report, Hernandez's girlfriend told police that the two got into a fight after an argument over a stolen laptop.

• A 13-year-old Newport girl was arrested around 1:40 a.m. Sunday on a simple assault charge after getting into a fight with a 12-year-old girl regarding statements made on Facebook.

• Two Newport teens were arrested on vandalism and disorderly conduct charges around 2:30 a.m. Sunday at the Hyatt Regency on Defenders Row. According to the report, the two young men, one 16 and the other 17, sprayed ketchup on a vending machine, lockers, housekeeping carts and all over the kitchen. Nothing appeared to be permanently damaged.

• A 14-year-old Newport teen was arrested around 11:45 p.m. Sunday on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Police responded to the teen's home, located on John Chafee Boulevard, around 11:21 p.m. after receiving a report that he'd been disrespectful to his mother. The mother told police that her son was refusing to listen to her and responded to requests with curse words. Police asked the teen to come downstairs to talk, but the boy refused, responding with obscenities. He eventually complied, but as he reached the bottom of the stairs, the teen allegedly took an aggressive stance and threatened to stab the officer. As he apparently reached for an unknown item, the officer grabbed his left arm and struggled to get him onto the couch, where he was ordered to stop fighting. The teen allegedly yelled for his 10 and 12-year-old brothers to help get the officer off of him, but the mother kept them back. Police arrested the teen and took him to the station for booking. He was transported to the Rhode Island Training School early Monday morning.

Drinking Charges

• Douglas E. Weeden, 20, of Warren, was arrested around 3:03 a.m. Saturday near Pelham Street and Touro Park on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

• Danielle Morse, 18, of North Kingstown, was cited around 11:27 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of alcohol by a minor and drinking in public.

• Madison Hayes, 19, of White River, VT, was cited around 1:42 a.m. Sunday near Wellington Avenue and Thames Street on charges of possession of alcohol by a minor and drinking in public.

• Kristy Pauloski, 20, of Bloomingdale, NJ, was cited around 2:04 a.m. Sunday near Wellington Avenue and Thames Street on charges of possession of alcohol by a minor and drinking in public.

• Mitchell Scott Roshong, 21, of Verona, NJ, was cited around 12:55 a.m. near 5 Marchant Street for obtaining alcohol for a minor and a noise disturbance.

• Deborah Nagle, 38, of 20 Summer Street Apt. 1 in Newport, was arrested around 1:48 a.m. Sunday near Broadway and Stone Street on charge of driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Noise Citations

• Brian Smith, 20, of Ossining, NY, was cited for a noise disturbance at 5 Marchant Street at 12:55 a.m. Sunday.

• Alison A. Buck, 38, was cited for a noise disturbance at 1:40 a.m. Sunday at Chart House Inn, 16 Clarke Street.

• Adam C. Speckenbach, 22, of 19 Walnut Street Apt. 2 in Newport, was cited for a noise disturbance around 3:20 a.m. Sunday at his apartment.

• Gregg Griffin, 21, of South Hampton, NY, was cited for a noise disturbance around 3:20 a.m. Sunday at 19 Walnut Street Apt. 2.
