One Day Later, Gooseberry Beach Declared Safe For Swimming
Bacteria levels at the Newport beach are once again safe, the Rhode Island Department of Health said.
NEWPORT, RI — Just one day after it was closed for high bacteria levels, Gooseberry Beach is back open to swimmers. Three other beaches remain closed on Thursday.
The Rhode Island Department of Health closed the Newport beach on Wednesday evening.
Surfer's End at Sachuset Beach in Middletown has been closed since Tuesday, while Camp Grosvenor in Saunderstown and the Kent County YMCA Upper and Lower Ponds are also closed to swimming due to high bacteria levels.
