In time for the Newport Bridge's 50th anniversary, the Turnpike and Bridge Authority announces ideas for the future.

The state will be closing lanes on the bridges this spring and summer, according to an announcement Wednesday.
The state Turnpike and Bridge Authority is alerting drivers to construction this weekend along the Route 138 corridor between the bridges.
The parade starts at 11 Saturday morning at City Hall and ends at St. Augustin's Church. It's expected to last about two hours.
Update: The bridges are open with no restrictions.
The construction will start March 5 and be scheduled primarily nights and weekends.
