Woman Falls into Water off 40 Steps

Here's yet another reminder to be careful on the Cliff Walk.

A woman in her twenties is being treated for minor injuries right now after she fell off the rocks and into the water by 40 Steps shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday.

Rescue officials on the scene said she stepped off the edge and slipped into the water, struggling for about a minute before managing to get out.

Such incidents are rather frequent in Newport, but with today's rain, every surface is extra slippery. Be safe out there.
