Yellow Lobster Attracting Quite the Crowd in Newport
The rare catch is currently on display at the State Pier.
That ultra-rare yellow lobster caught in the Narragansett Bay last week has become quite the star as of late.
Not only has the 1-in-30-million find gained attention from media outlets across the country; it's also become a pretty popular attraction here in Newport.
The lobster, which is on display at the fishermen's co-op at the State Pier, has brought throngs of people to the small waterfront stand. According to co-op employee Russell Sylvester, the fans won't stop coming.

"We've had more people come to see him than actually buy lobster the past few days," he said on Monday, while holding the 1.25 pound creature in his hands.
For now, the lobster is being kept in a water-filled plastic bin lined up next to all the others for sale. But this special catch won't be going home with anyone.

Sylvester said the lobster will be left at the co-op for safe-keeping until they find it a home in an aquarium.
"That way it can live out its life in peace," he noted.
If you want to see Rhode Island lobsterman Denny Ingram's special catch, then visit the co-op, which is located on Washington Street, just down Long Wharf and near the Gateway Center. The co-op is open from 1 to 6 p.m. weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
