Police working a DUI detail said he was clocked driving 80 mph in a 50 mph zone.

North Kingstown police charged 21-year-old Tanner Austin Barnes, of Kieth Ave., Cranston, with driving under the influence on Friday after he was clocked driving 80 mph in a 50 mph zone on Route 138.
Police said Barnes was also observed by an officer working a Blue Riptide DUI enforcement detail as he straddled the fog line with his Toyota and swerved in and out of his lane at around 11:30 p.m.
Once stopped, police said Barnes smelled like alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. He told police that he had four beers and was on his way back home after watching the fireworks display at Fort Adams in Newport.
