Art School in a Day: General Drawing and Painting

Imagine learning all the basic drawing and painting skills taught in the first year of art school in super fast time. Many art schools include much time talking about ideas and theory, but often not much teaching about materials, technique, and the student’s own work. This class focuses totally on these skills needed to be an artist in a fun, vigorous day of practical learning. Using “Artist’s In-Sight”™, rapid progress is made in the art of seeing, the key to effective drawing and painting. From there, the basics of drawing, including materials, and the basics of oil painting, are covered. You will work on at least four pieces of work, including two paintings, and learn FAST, so that you have the basic skills necessary to grow further on your own. This class is for all levels, and offers the insight of a lifelong, full time painter, who went to three art schools and is passing his information along to you.

Instructor David Schock has been a professional full time artist for over twenty years, exhibiting in fine galleries in the USA and England, including one-man galleries in Carmel, CA and Newport, RI. . Over thirty thousand originals and prints of the artist's works are in circulation worldwide. He is an award winner in painting at the Copley Society in Boston, has been honored as a featured artist with the "Boston Pops", and is in the collection of the New England Sports Museum at TD Garden. David's artwork can be seen at: davidschock.com, the David Schock Gallery in Jamestown, and davidschock.blogspot.com
