Family Fun at Strawberry Festival, June 15, 12-4
Savor Smith’s Castle’s celebrated strawberry shortcake and pay homage to the humble wild strawberry –- a favorite of the early colonists and the native Narragansett. Delicious strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream will be offered for purchase.
Dan Butterwoth’s Marionettes will entertain children of all ages. Other activities for families to enjoy will include pony rides and live animals to pet. The Gift Shop is brimming with new and unique treasures, and local vendors and artisans will be selling their wares.
The festival will get under way at noon with free tours of the first floor of the c1678 “castle” and its grounds, which feature a Colonial Revival Garden. Docents in period costume will be on hand to answer questions about the house and its history.
As always, Smith's Castle members are admitted free. For non-members, admission is $7 for Adults (which includes coupons toward food purchases), and $3 for Children 6-12, with a $20 cap per family.
