Jamestown Bridge Repairs Completed Early
Lanes were supposed to be closed all week but everything is smooth sailing as of Wednesday.

Well, that was fast.
All repairs and upgrades to the Jamestown-Verrazzano Bridge, which connects North Kingstown to Jamestown and towns on Aquidneck Island, were completed ahead of schedule and all lanes have reopened, according to the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority.
Good weather and “construction crews working hard to complete all tasks efficiently and effectively” paved the way for the project to be completed several days early, according to a RITBA news release.

Closures to the high speed lanes were expected to last all week.
The project entailed replacing steel hatches and concrete repair on the bridge deck. The work was planned after findings from a 2015 inspection that showed “issues with certain aspects of the bridge,” RITBA officials said.

Crews still have to do some additional work down the road, including replacing drainage troughs, repairing expansion joints and repairing damaged guard rails.
