NK to Collect $12k from State Recycling Revenues
North Kingstown can boast having one of the best recycling rates in Rhode Island.

North Kingstown residents are walking the walk when it comes to recycling, contributing to a 34.5 percent recycling rate for fiscal 2015, according to data from Rhode Island Resource Recovery.
As a result, the town will soon be getting a total of $12,247.84 from resource recovery.
The figure is based on a tip fee rebate of $2 per ton of trash disposed. And, for recycling at a rate above 25 percent, the town enjoys a lower per-ton tipping fee for regular trash.

“The public/private partnership we have with the recycling company is working very well,” Town Manager Michael Embury said. “. A testament to good management and the commitment by ther residents of North Kingstown to the curbside recycling program.”
Communities with recycling rates between 25 to 29 percent pay $31 per ton for recycling. Above 30 percent, it drops to $30 per ton. The rate is $29 per ton for towns that break the 35 percent threshold.

The town will see the rebate in its August or September invoice.
