NK Man Charged after Stabbing Brother
The argument, which spilled into the yard of a King Phillip Drive house, started over the way a joint had been rolled.
An argument that started over how someone was rolling a joint ended up spilling out into a King Phillip Drive yard and felony assault charges for a 22-year-old North Kingstown man after he allegedly stabbed his brother in the back with a small kinfe.
Nobody was seriously hurt in the fracas, but police charged Dana Robert Hall, of 101 King Phillip Drive, with domestic felony assault, domestic simple assault and two counts of domestic disorderly conduct.
Police said they were dispatched to 101 King Phillip Drive at around 7:30 p.m. on July 26 after a 911 call reporting a stabbing.

Police came upon a chaotic scene and the victim, who suffered a small puncture wound on his back shoulder, said his brother had stabbed him and was hiding in the house.
Police went into the house and heard a commotion upstairs. It was Hall, who was found hiding in an unfinished room.

Hall was reportedly upset and breathing heavily and said he was hiding from his brother and that he had defended himself “but would not elaborate any further,” according to a police report.
The argument started when Hall and two other people were inside the house preparing to smoke marijuana. Hall became upset at the way a joint was rolled, accusing the person of being a “worthless drunk.”
They argued and it spilled outside into the back yard. Hall then tried to punch a woman, but his blows were blocked. The woman fell back, however, and Hall reportedly began kicking her in the abdomen.
Another woman at the scene then called Hall’s brother, who rushed over from a nearby address and began arguing as well. Hall eventually turned around and began walking towards the house and when the argument seemed to be ending, the victim reportedly turned around and started to walk away too. That was when Hall “spun around,” police said and stabbed his brother in the shoulder area.
Police noted that they had difficulty obtaining witness statements and people at the scene were not cooperative.
Aside from the stab wound, which went about an inch into the victim’s shoulder, there were no serious injuries during the altercation and nobody sought medical treatment.
Hall was taken into custody without incident and was held for arraignment in the morning.
Police said they did not see any marijuana in view inside of the house as they worked the scene.
Hall was arraigned and surety bail was set at $2,000. He was unable to raise money for bail and was transported to the intake center at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.
Several no-contact orders were issued.
