Michaela Sullivan, a high school junior from North Kingstown, has been nominated to represent RI at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders.

Michaela Sullivan, a high school junior from North Kingstown, has been nominated to represent Rhode Island at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders on November 14-16 in Washington, D.C.
The national program, described as highly selective, honors academically superior high school students dedicated to the service of humanity in medicine, according to the National Academy of Future Physicians. The honors program requires a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.
Michaela Sullivan has spent a lot of time with doctors and in hospitals as a teenager living with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, but her experience has inspired her to explore a career in medicine.

“I am really looking forward to exploring and learning more about career opportunities in the field of medicine,” said Sullivan. “I have been fortunate to have met many inspiring physicians and would like to give back and help others someday.”
During the three-day Congress, Sullivan will join students from across the country and hear Nobel laureates and National Medal of Science winners talk about leading medical research. She will also receive advice from Ivy League and top deans on what to expect in medical school, hear patients tell their stories about living through medical miracles and learn about cutting-edge advances and the future of medicine and medical technology.
