Police Cite Man with 104 Arrests since '89 for Public Drunkenness Six Times this Month

Glen P. Gadrow of North Kingstown continues to shuffle through the legal system.

A man who has been arrested more than 100 times by area police has been cited six times this month for being drunk in public -- including a string of three incidents last week.

Police said Glen P. Gadrow, 51, was found asleep and heavily intoxicated on Aug. 16, 17 and 19 and each time, he was transported to the hospital and released.

On Aug. 16, police reported finding Gadrow lying on a bench near the town docks at around 8:35 p.m. He told officers that he was having a “bad day” and was in a lot of pain.

The following day, police found Gadrow lying on a public bench with an open can of Budweiser in his hand. Officers were dispatched to the area behind Rite Aid in a parking lot behind the store on Brown Street for a report of a man urinating in public.

Once police were able to rouse him, he reportedly registered a .191 blood alcohol reading in a breath test at the scene.

He was transported to the hospital and eventually released with a Municipal Court summons for public drunkenness.

Two days later, police were dispatched to the area of Post Road near Richard Smith Grove for a report of a man lying on the road.

Expecting Gadrow, officers found him and again, it took some effort to rouse him. He registered a .217 blood alcohol reading and was transported to the hospital with yet another Municipal Court summons.

Police noted that it was the sixth time this month that officers have responded to various places in town for reports of public urination or Gadrow passed out and intoxicated.

Court records show Gadrow has more than 100 arrests for various charges over the years including simple assault, trespassing, vandalism and numerous alcohol-related offenses.

His first ever arrest was in 1989 for driving under the influence.

Most of the arrests have occurred in North Kingstown and he’s repeatedly been sentenced to probation, suspended prison sentences, ordered to obtain counseling and alcohol treatment.

Gadrow has served a few stints in prison, most recently in 2013 after he pleaded no contest to third degree domestic simple assault and was sentenced to five years at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston, four years suspended.
