Updated: He Pointed a Shotgun: She Smacked Him in the Head with a Baseball Bat
State police arrested the armed home invasion suspect at his girl friend's home in Coventry.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—A masked man stormed through the back door at a Dry Bridge Road home on Monday night, pointed a shotgun at the woman inside and demanded money, according to police.
The male resident grabbed the shotgun, and it fired into the floor. Meanwhile, the woman smacked the intruder in the head with a baseball bat.
He was later identified as Jordan M. Rice, 33, of Exeter, and he was known to the residents, police said.

He was arrested later at his girl friend's home in Coventry. Coventry police and state police surrounded the home, while a North Kingstown officer spoke with Rice over the telephone and convinced him to surrender.
Meanwhile, the state police said, North Kingstown police developed the information about a suspect.

"We followed his car," Capt. John Allen, of the state police, said. The state police had a couple of possible addresses, and then Troopers located him in Coventry where he was arrested "incident-free."
The state police took him into custody and transferred him to North Kingstown. He was treated for minor injuries at Kent County Hospital.
Rice is being charged with discharging a firearm while committing a violent crime, burglary and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The North Kingstown residents were not injured, police said.
