Updated: Three Sent to Hospital After Crash
Firefighters responded to Route 4 for a fire due to a car crash around midnight. The accident sent three patients to the hospital.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI—A crash and a fire overnight on Route 4 called out North Kingstown Fire, Police, State Police and East Greenwich firefighters. Three people went to the hospital. All three have been released home, and one driver, allegedly traveling more than 100 mph, has been charged.
According to the police department, a patrol officer on a radar post spotted a car barreling north on Route 4, near Ten Mile Road. The speed was clocked in excess of 100 mph. The officer attempted to catch up to the speeding car, a 2017 Subaru, but the driver had already rear-ended another vehicle. Both cars burst into flames.

The operator and a passenger in the 2003 Jeep Liberty, which had been struck from behind, managed to extricate themselves from the car.
The police pulled out the Subaru operator, Robert Andreozzi, 28, of North Kingstown.

All three were treated at Kent County Hospital and released.
Andreozzi is charged with Driving so as to Endanger, Injury Resulting: Driving under the influence; and Reckless Driving. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning in Third District Court.
North Kingstown Police Accident Reconstruction officers are continuing to investigate the crash.
