Zeke Harris's Killer Comes Up for Parole June 5
Harris owned a furniture store in North Kingstown. He had tried to help the man who killed him.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Police are alerting residents to an upcoming parole hearing June 5 for convicted murderer James 'Jamie' Hughes, III. Hughes was convicted of murdering Zeke Harris, who owned Zeke's Furniture Exchange, a store in North Kingstown. Harris was 79 in 1982 when Hughes killed him with a hammer inside the store.
According to Harris's family, the two men knew each other because Harris had attempted to help Hughes. But Hughes was looking for money on the day of the murder and killed Harris for about $50.
People can write letters urging the parole board to keep Hughes incarcerated, the police indicated.
