PROVIDENCE, RI — The owner of a Providence massage spa who was charged with selling sexual favors from her unlicensed workers lost her own license, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Monica Chow, 33, was arrested in April on numerous charges, including pandering or permitting prostitution, money laundering, conspiracy, and willful failure to pay wages.

Chow, the owner of Smilers Day Spa, was hit with a summary suspension of her massage license this week pending an investigation, according to the department of health.

Chow was "aware that sexual services were being provided under the guise of massage therapy services by unlicensed massage therapists in exchange for money at the spa and that she has been receiving the money being paid in exchange for the provision of these services," the department of health said in its suspension order.

Chow is free on bond and due back in court in July.
