Body Identified From Smith Street Apartment: State Police

PROVIDENCE, RI North Providence and state police say a body found in an apartment building at 1245 Smith St. on Friday has been identified.

According to the state medical examiner's office, the deceased person is Judith A. O'Brien, 61, whose last-known address was 1905 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. She was reported missing to the North Providence Police Department on August 15. A joint investigation by the Rhode Island State Police and the North Providence Department led to the discovery of her body in a stairwell at the apartment building.

Her body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office, where the results of an autopsy are pending. The investigation is ongoing.
