Providence Police Officer Shooting Suspect Held Without Bail
Tyrone Robinson, 19, of Providence is facing charges in the Friday shooting that wounded 10-year veteran Matt McGloin.
PROVIDENCE, RI — The 19-year-old facing charges in the shooting of Providence Officer Matthew McGloin Friday was ordered held without bail in Providence District Court on Tuesday. Tyrone Robinson, of Providence, has been charged with six firearm charges, including two assault charges with intent to murder.
McGloin, a 10-year veteran, sustained an impact wound when a bullet struck his protective vest during a shootout Friday afternoon outside of a strip mall on Admiral Street. McGloin was taken to Roger Williams Hospital where he was treated and released early Saturday morning.
Matt is home recovering with family. Robinson was charged with 6 separate firearm charges, including 2 counts of assault with intent to commit murder. He was arraigned today and sent to the ACI. Providence's Finest were truly at their finest yesterday. Follow us for updates. TAV

WPRI-TV reports that Robinson is “well-known” to police, and was out on bail on drug and gun charges from a May arrest.
