Dead Man Found Outside Tiverton Garage: Cops

The dead man was found in the parking area of the garage, police said.

TIVERTON, RI — A 74-year-old man was found dead in the parking area of a Tiverton garage, police said.

The man was found shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday on Bay Street near Canonicus Street, the Tiverton Police Department said in a media release.

"The scene was secured and a preliminary investigation was conducted," the release said.

Surveillance footage showed the man at the property in the early evening hours Monday and "did not indicate any interaction with other individuals, nor did it reveal any evidence of foul play," according to the release.

The Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiner took custody of the body and will conduct further examination to determine the cause and manner of death, according to the release.

"At this time, the incident i s not considered suspicious, and there is no threat to the public," the release said. "The identity of the deceased i s being withheld pending notification of next of kin."
